MAP OF TAVEUNI
Taveuni has a domestic airstrip at Matei, on the northernmost tip of the island. From Matei there is a coastal road network that encircles most of the island. The road is sealed in many major sections, though some roads remain unsealed. The section between Matei and Somosomo was upgraded substantially in 2000-2001.

The reefs off Taveuni are world-renowned, and some of the major diving locations are indicated by the red and white dive flag symbols. Of particular note is the diving on the famous 'Rainbow Reef' in the Somosomo Strait, accessed by dive boats from a number of Taveuni dive operations.
